Hello! My name is Tricia Chen and I would like to share my university experiences in the United Kingdom with you.
Having been brought up in California and graduated from Taipei American School, I have always wanted to go back to California, or at least the United States for my further studies. However, when my father recommended me to pursue my studies in England, a place that never use to exist in my heart, I started speaking to people for various suggestions. It was then, when I contacted Getset and got the chance to speak to Peter, my interest in studying aboard in England started to grow. Now having lived there for almost 5 years, I am proud of my experience there and very glad I decided to go there.
My 3 years in Oxford for my undergraduate studies were great and very memorable. I not only became more aware of the English culture, but also several other European cultures. I’ve made friends from various places and backgrounds. They provided me their point of views and taught me to accept differences. My course was very interesting and it helped me decide what direction, in terms of my career, I would like to go towards in the future.
The time I spent in Bristol while I did my Master’s degree was very well rounded. I enjoyed my course and I also enjoyed spending weekends visiting different cities with friends. Perhaps the best part of being in the United Kingdom is the fact that the country is so close to so many nice and pretty European cities. It was always great fun planning a short stay in Paris or Vienna with friends.
All and all, I highly recommend the UK experience, especially to those who are certain with what they want to study, as unlike in the United States, students cannot easily swap courses. For me, it was a plus that the course was very focused and I did not need to take any non-Media related classes. The decision to travel to the United Kingdom was definitely one of the best choices I have ever made so far in life.

而飲食更是不用擔心啦!出了有依班英國的連鎖餐廳外，還有China town 喔!隨然不像倫敦那麼大，但也是可以吃到很多有中國味的料理和buffet喔!還有中國超商可以買到有台灣味的食物，有湯圓還有泡麵喔，不用擔心過年和元宵沒得吃，在這邊，還有英國傳市場，可以買到很多菜阿、肉阿!而且還有許多supermarkets，像M&S、co-op!!
In September of 2006, I was a student who desired to study in the UK but I didn't know how to get there right way to fulfill it then. Subsequently, I found some agencies and hoped they would give me useful information to study abroad; however, most of them needed to be paid by you and were not really helpful sometimes. Finally, my friend recommended me "Getset." To start with, I thought Getset should be another one like those before I went to there. Yet, I afterwards found out I was wrong. All of information Getset offer are free. Another fact to which is more worth referring is that the staff at Getset were very friendly and provided me with lots of useful information to seek a good university. Further, they also gave me sufficient assistance when I were preparing personal documents for applying to universities. Therefore, I strongly suggest anyone who wants to pursue advanced education in the UK to go to the Getset right now because of my successful experience. Thanks!

Hello Monica,
I am doing better this week, thank you, & how are you over there? Just arrived in London on 8th the other week, & registered myself on 9th. Everything is just started kicking in, so I am still adjusting myself as well. Now I'm living in the New Cross Gate area, yes, but I don't think it's that bad. No gangster gun shots heard just yet.
Just across the road there is a Sainsbury’s supermarket, it takes only a 10 min walk to get to Goldsmiths from where I live, there's a garden behind us where we can BBQ in summer; though I am sharing a flat with half a dozen of guys like in a college dorm house! But I guess its O.K, so far.
It took quite a lot of effort finding the house, but you have to get use to the way how they do things in the UK. Relax, take a pace, & breathe.
For example, when I went to open an account in the bank, even though I stood right in front of them with all the necessary documents on hand at the exact specified service counter (which opens between 11am to 2 pm Friday only), they still gave me an appointment for the following Monday, in addition you have to come back with another letter from reg office stamped with your address approval.
So a lot of things here will definitely drive you crazy, but you get use to it.
Just slow down!
