Q: I'm hoping to go to the UK for university study, but I'm worried that my IELTS score won't be good enough. What can I do to improve my IELTS score?
A: All international students need to provide proof of their English ability in order to study in a UK university, and the universities prefer students to take the IELTS test. The IELTS test is a very difficult examination and it's very important to prepare well for the test before actually taking it.
Q: Hi, I'm very interested in study at a UK university, and I want to start my application process, but when should I start applying?
A: Welcome to GetSet! We strongly advise that you apply as early as possible, for university entry, a good time would be October or November. Most institutions will accept applications without an IELTS score so you don't need to wait until you have taken the IELTS test. The institution will, if you are qualified, issue an offer conditional on English proficiency if you didn't submit an IELTS score. If you havven't yet graduated one of the conditions would also be that you graduate with a certain GPA.
A: As you know, the Internet is proving to be a valuable source of information for many things; this also includes UK study. The GetSet website has all the information that you need for planning your studies. There you can also find links to all the UK University websites. Another great way to find out more about UK study is to meet the university representatives that regularly visit Taiwan. The GetSet Centre oofers you the opportunity to meet with the representatives for an interview while they are in Taiwan.
Q: My degree is not related to business, can I still apply for a master's in marketing?
A: Yes! Many business masters are designed for people that have a degree in an area other than business. Check the entrace requirements carefully before applying because some business masters do require a degree in a business related subject.
Q: I want to read for a Ph.D in the UK but need to carry out most of my research in Taiwan, would this be possible?
A: Yes it is possible to carry out research in Taiwan as part of a Ph.D. In the UK many universities operate what is known as the "split Ph.D". This means that your time is "Split" between different locations, typically you would spend the first year in the UK and the following two years in Taiwan. A local supervisor would be appointed in Taiwan and the UK supervisor would fly out to Taiwan periodically. One of the obvious benefits of the split Ph.D is that the cost is much less than a Ph.D wholly pursued in the UK.

Q:
I've found a university in Scotland that I'd really like to go to for my postgraduate study but I'm worried about the weather being too cold. Is it really that bad?
A:
This is a common myth. Scotland, though in the north of the UK, is not actually very much colder than the southern parts. The average winter temperature in London is only about 2? C warmer than Glasgow. The whole of the UK gets pretty cold in winter but with nearly all buildings having central heating you rarely feel the cold. Besdies, with your study lasting for only 1 year, time fly by and you'll barely notice the weather.
Q:
If I want to study English in the UK, how do I choose the Language School?
